Kumar lives a poor lifestyle in a village in India along with his mom, dad, Badri, and a younger brother, Arun. Kumar studies in Bombay, and is in love with wealthy Prabha, whose dad approves of him, and is even willing to loan him money to go abroad for further studies. But before the marriage could take place, Badri passes away, and as a result Kumar returns to the village so that Arun can go to Bombay, study, and make a better life for the entire family, leaving behind a heartbroken Prabha. Years later Kumar and Prabha are fated to meet again. This time Prabha will be a married woman - married to Bombay`s Public Prosecutor, Mathur - who is prosecuting Kumar for using a gun to kill a woman named Kalpana!!

Dr. Anand Kumar joins a village clinic, works hard despite difficulties. He marries Nisha but later neglects her after becoming a successful doctor. Nisha leaves him when she realizes his changed priorities.

Sunil lives with his mom and sister in a middle-class dwelling in Delhi, India. He works for Chopra & Co., Chartered Accountants. He comes across a beautiful woman posing for a painting, and thinks she is poor and needy, and gives her a tip. The woman's name is Anita, and both are attracted to each other. Sunil and Anita intend to marry, and Sunil even introduces Anita to his mom. One day when attending a party, Sunil is shocked to learn that Anita is a multi-millionaire. Stunned at this deception, he swears he will have nothing to do with her. When Anita attempts to sooth things over, Sunil does cool down. It is then he finds out that Anita's dad, who is serving time, had killed his father, and that Anita mother is still alive, after making her living as a former prostitute.

A story of two women Shaista and Nayyara, and their daughters. Shaista is very selfish and has spoiled her husband's life. While studying in Aligarh, Anwar Hussain Anwar falls in love with a veiled woman and is unable to get her out of his mind. Enroute to Lucknow, they meet with Nawab Buland Akhtar Changezi, and subsequently meet with him a few days later so that he can use his influence to secure an editor's job for Anwar with a magazine. Nawab then asks Anwar to teach his sister, Husna, some poetry, to which he agrees, and eventually finds that she is the very same veiled woman. Both fall in love with each other and the Nawab approves of this alliance even though Anwar lives a poor lifestyle. The formal engagement ceremony takes place and arrangements are made for the wedding to take place soon. The heavily indebted Nawab does not realize that soon he will find Anwar in the company of a lowly courtesan, Najma; and pressure will be brought on him to get Husna to marry wealthy Munne Raja - who is all set to auction the former's mansion as well as belongings.
